What a lovely day at my latest author school visit last week!
It was such an honour to be invited to cut the ribbon on the new Reading Shed with all the amazing Reading Ambassadors. Huge thanks to Headteacher Mr Greg Ball, Deputy Headteacher Mr Tim Norman, and Team Leader/Assistant Headteacher Miss Sarah Logan for such a warm welcome.
I also had the chance to read my latest book, What is Art?, and chat with the children about what art means to them. As a former primary school teacher, I often heard children say, "I can't draw." That's exactly why I wrote this book...to show that art isn't about drawing perfectly, it's about expressing your ideas, feelings, and experiences in your own unique way.The children's thoughts, questions, and creativity were so inspiring.
The collaborative Picasso portrait was definitely a hit! It was wonderful to see how much the children loved working together to create one giant piece of art. There were lots of smiles, laughter, and creativity. It really was a win-win activity!
